FAQs

HOW DO I INSTALL A FONTS CAFÉ FONT?

Easy font installation instructions are on our How to Install a Font page. If you are still having trouble, please use our contact form to request support.

WHAT LICENSES ARE AVAILABLE AND WHICH ONE SHOULD I BUY?

Fonts Café has a font license to suit almost any customer: Desktop, Web, App, Broadcast and eBook licenses.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE FULL AND LIGHT VERSIONS OF FONTS CAFÉ fonts?

Fewer characters are included in the LIGHT versions of our fonts but they are usually adequate for English language, non-technical use. They include include UPPERCASE (CAPITAL) and lowercase letters, numbers, common punctuation marks and some accented letters. A little bit less work is involved so they're less expensive.

It's easy to choose. They are shown in the character sheets at the bottom of each individual font's page. For example, have a look at the two tabs: Full and Light at the bottom of the Hand Shop Typography A20 font page.

Our rule of thumb is, if your language or your project contains accented letters, play it safe and choose the FULL version.

HOW DO I RESET MY PASSWORD?

If you need to reset your password you can do by entering your username or email address in the "Recover Password" section of this page.

IF I BUY A FONT WILL I NEED TO PAY MORE IN THE FUTURE?

So long as you purchase the correct license, the answer is, "No." For example, if you purchase one of our fonts with a standard Desktop License you have permission to install that font on two computers simultaneously. However, in the future if you need to install the font on more computers then you need to purchase additional licenses. So long as you adhere to the conditions of the license you've purchased, no matter how big or profitable your business may become you don't need to pay us anymore!

DO YOU OFFER ANY DISCOUNTS?

When buying both Web and Desktop versions of a single font or font pack we offer a 50% discount on the Web version. It happens automatically at the fontscafe.com checkout so just add both to your cart and you'll get the Web version for half price.

CAN I USE YOUR FONTS IN PHYSICAL ITEMS WHICH I THEN SELL?

Yes! T-shirts, mugs, posters and many more items have been created and sold using our fonts. You can find examples on our Facebook and Pinterest pages.

CAN I SELL INDIVIDUAL PHYSICAL LETTERS OR NUMBERS FROM YOUR FONTS?

Yes! For example, creating an alphabet of fridge magnets is fine!

CAN I USE YOUR FONTS ON DIGITAL ITEMS WHICH I THEN SELL?

Yes you may, under two conditions:

  1. Ensure you have the correct license.
  2. Your digital items may not be effectively reselling our fonts in an editable form. This means that whatever you sell may not contain a copy or even a subset of our font's characters which the end user can edit.

CAN I USE YOUR FONTS IN MY SOFTWARE?

Yes, checkout our App Licenses.

CAN I USE YOUR FONTS ON MY WEBSITE?

Yes, if you'd like to create graphics and then upload them to your website as part of your websites design (or simply just your logo) then you need a Desktop License.

If you'd like to use CSS Font Replacement to replace the text on your website then you need a Web License.

CAN I BUY ONE WEB FONT LICENSE FOR DIFFERENT WEBSITES OR DO I NEED TO BUY MORE LICENSES?

You can purchase a single font web version and use it on multiple sites. The critical factor is choosing the right number of monthly "pageviews" to cover all of them. When you've added the version you want to the cart you'll see a dropdown menu that allows you to select the appropriate number of total page views for your combined sites.

WILL YOUR FONTS WORK IN MY SOFTWARE?

Most modern software easily handles third party fonts like ours! However, occasionally due to reasons of incompatibility between software and operating systems some applications have problems with some custom fonts. This is very rare, however because all fontscafe.com sales are final, if you want to be sure our font will work as you intend we recommend that you test a FREE demo version first!

CAN I PURCHASE A FONT FOR A CLIENT OR THIRD PARTY?

Yes, during checkout when you're entering your contact information you'll find an additional field called "End User Name". This field will appear on your invoice as "Licensee" and is your (and your client's) permanent record of purchase.
